Puritan understands that our customers are often our greatest resource and inspiration. And since we design and manufacture all of our products in-house, we can quickly react to customer and user suggestions to initiate improvements.

And that’s exactly what we did. Based on feedback provided by a public healthcare professional seeking a flock swab designed for both patient comfort and improving the lab professional’s experience, we developed our new 3320 series. Based on the popular 3317 series, the 3320’s tip design remains the same, yet the handle is more flexible with a gentle taper – with enough surface area to collect ample specimen while providing easier extraction when removed from the transport vial.

Your intended application, sampling techniques, and processing methods will guide your choice for a break point on the handle.

For clinical or self-collection, the 80mm break point may be ideal for two reasons:

  1. The break point is closely aligned with the overall length of a 12 x 80mm vial, reducing distortion of the handle while providing optimal extraction from the transport vial.
  2. Reduced risk of contamination and improved biohazard safety at the lab due to decreased handling during de-capping – no need to cut the swab handle.

The 3320 series is available in both HydraFlock® and PurFlock Ultra®, with or without a breakpoint and sterile as well as non-sterile pack.
